It was a small gathering but a great effort.  Being a grading for generally lower belts there were too many areas to point out and I will speak to you all individually about the areas that need work.  On that note I would like to officially welcome Adnan to the club.  Well done getting off your white belt!!

I would also like to make one observation – Ippon Kumite (one step sparring) this was poor across the board.  The drill develops above all your reaction training.  You are training yourself to react to an attack quickly and effectively.  You need to use footwork, distance, timing and most importantly block and counter the attacking arm.  we could all spend more time on this drill.

Finally, 2011 will finish with the 10th World Tournament being held in Tokyo, Japan.  We are lucky to have 4 members selected and representing the South Pacific Region in this event so we all need to get to training to support our boys and I can assure you – we all benefit from the extra hard training.

So lets get behind our fighters and give them the best chance possible to succeed.
