It was pleasing to see some of the middle ranks coming back to grade after a long gap. Gradings are still the best way to measure your progress and test yourself. As well as giving you a reason to get back to training on a regular basis.
A few areas to watch – extending the leg fully when performing yoko geri, controlling the arms whilst doing the kick katas and watching the elbow when doing shuto mawashi uki in kokutsu dachi (back stance). Small things that all add up to better karate.
I would like to make specific mention of Tiffany and to congratulate her on a great effort in attaining her 1st kyu. Her attitude towards hard training and her efforts are an example to all. It also goes to show that hard work is always rewarded.
Next up for the Brisbane dojo –
Qld State titles – being held May 4th at Nerang, Gold Coast Nationals – Held in Brisbane again this year, June 29th at Sommerville Sports Centre, South Brisbane – applications and details to follow shortly.
