General Comments
What a huge day for the Brisbane dojos and a milestone for our newly ordained black belts. I would like to specifically congratulate Nick, Erin, Tim, Lyndon and John for their huge performance in completely the infamous 40 man kumite. They all completed their 40 fights in great style and with courage and conviction all the way to the final fight. It was a true test of spirit and all passed with flying colours.
I would also like to welcome Sempai Todd and Sempai Mike to the
teaching fold. As nidan's they will now be more actively involved in the teaching side of training. They both achieved their second dans with great spirit and very sharp technique.
I was very pleased with the general performance of the day and for what really proved to be great preparation. All students were not only very prepared but also very psyched to give their best. The bench mark for the shodan and nidan gradings has certainly been set and maintained at a very high level and is something all new comers can aspire to.
The Brisbane dojo has become quite mature with its roots spanning over 20 years (1986 Bris dojo began at Lang Park PCYC) starting around the corner at the newly named Suncorp Stadium. Since then we have moved 7 times produced 50 odd blackbelts and 20 odd nidans as well as the 4 senseis including myself. Brisbane kyokushin has a ling history and is well respected in the martial arts community for its intense training and strong spirit and one that I intend to continue for many years to come.
Congratulations to all those who graded and I will be speaking to each of you individually about your grade over the coming weeks.
