General Comments
Congratulations to those who graded. A special mention to John and Kristina who were well prepared and put in a very good effort for what is the second most difficult grading in the Syllibus.
Some points to note in general terms; the retracting hand is still coming down and sitting at the waist level. This needs to be kept just below the shoulder. Think elbows when performing the blocks. The elbows form a significant part of the block especially soto uke (outside block) which requires the elbow to end in line with the other side of the body - not finishing in the centre as most students continue to do. Stances continually rise throughout the grading, which is obviously a result of getting tired, but the emphasis is still to sit lower. Uraken techniques (back fist) require more shoulder rotation to be performed with power.
I will be speaking to all students on there individual performances over the coming weeks.
As a dojo, our next event is the State Titles. All details are available on the net. Start to tell your friends and family as its a great event to watch. Fighting or not fighting I want to see everyone there supporting your dojo.
