GENERAL COMMENTS
Congratulations to all those who graded. Especially to Jess, Jamie, Leo, Ali, Kristian and Trigger for getting off white belt. That's a big deal and it makes you officially part of the Brisbane Dojo family.
I would also like to again congratulate Luke for not only achieving his green belt, but for being awarded most improved for the year. His training has been outstanding and he puts in the time and effort to ensure his progression is continous.
December is the hottest grading of the year, so you need to be extra fit if you are attempting another level. Fitness for some of you was clearly not up to scratch and will need to be worked on for the next time around.
On a positive note, the level of the lower grades in terms of stances and techniques was surprisingly good. Some of the more common errors in stances was - Zenkutsu dachi too narrow, back leg not straight, kiba dachi too high, sanchin to wide.
With regards to hand techniques, all blocks require two hands to be performed correctly. Back hand was slipping to the hip for some of you (big no no). Control kicks all the way back to the floor, and don't drop the hands when performing the kicks.
I will be speaking with each student individually over the course of the next few weeks to discuss your grading further.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone and their families a happy and safe Christmas, and look forward to seeing you back, rearing to go in 2006.
